Newsletter 11 - October 2008

Listening to the voice of God is discerning the message He passes to you. In natural life He gave us natural senses: ears to hear, eyes to see, tastebuds to taste, feeling to touch and smelling to smell. Discerning spiritually what is happening can be done with our inner (spiritual) senses. Our spiritual senses can cry out loud to us during the day, but many times we are to present ourselves before the Lord, and conciously focus our attention to Him.

John 7:38 says: If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. It is the living water we are after. Prophesies can come linke a stream of water that is flowing out of your inner man. This stream could be started by something we only sense. We sense a little touch, we sense a flash of an image, taste a little sweetness, smell a scent we never smelled before. At that moment step into the little sense of something and start asking more, start asking a heavier impression, start asking for revelation, ask for colors, texture, shape, bibletexts. And the flow of living waters will rise and start streaming.

The Hebrew word for prophecying is Naba, which also means bubbling up. The stream of water will bubble up from your inner man. Your attention is focussed on Jesus/The Holy Spirit, not to your own thoughts or things that occupy your mind. There is no involvement of your mind.
Another word for prophecysing is the Hebrew Paga. The meaning of paga is 'sudden or spontaneous meeting'. It is non-analytic, without the mind involved. But the Holy Spirit lives in us. He will give His revelation in a sudden spontaneous bubbling up kind of way which is coming from the inner man. The place where the Holy Spirit lives in a spirit filled christian.
The more we practise drinking streams of living water, the easier it gets to discern the voice of God, Your spiritual sensitivity will increase. Check out newsletter 9 for specific guidelines and practise your relation with Him every day.
