Acrylic Techniques 1 - material to work on

The material you work on can be: paper (cheap and for those who lack storage room), linen board, canvass, MDF/HDF wood. Try each of these to experience the difference. Some important tricks: choose acrylic paper 300grms/m2, this is a specially prepared paper and is a thick quality so bumps won't appear. When you like using thick layers of paint choose linen board, canvass or MDF/HDF wood panels. Make sure to prepare the underground with a layer of gesso. It makes sure your paint will have a good gripp. Especially when you use MDF/HDF. Most canvass and linen boards will have this preparation layer of gesso when you buy it. Start with small sizes and increase the size if you feel like it. Ask the Lord for each work what to pick.

Prepare your MDF/HDF board first with a hanging mechanism
at the back, doing it later might damage the painting.

When you prefer acrylic paper sheets: stick them to a wooden multiply panel with painters tape around the outline of the sheets. Take the painting off the panel after drying for a smooth flat result.
